For some Windows 10 users when you start the Device Manager and check the properties of the AMD Radeon device, you may see an error message “Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems” with code 43. In today’s post, we will identify the cause and then proceed to provide a possible solution to this issue.
You might encounter this code 43 issues on other brands of graphics card also, like Intel, NVIDIA, ATI, etc. The solution, regardless of which graphics card is essentially the same.
AMD Radeon Graphics code 43 error

There are many factors that cause AMD Radeon graphics error 43, such as a broken or old version AMD Radeon hardware, an incompatible or outdated AMD Radeon graphics driver, broken system files, registry conflicts, etc.
If you’re experiencing this issue, you can try any of the 5 recommended solutions below in no particular order.
1] Run SFC/DISM scan
This issue might be caused by broken file systems. Consequently, performing the SFC/DISM scan could fix the issue. The procedure will repair damaged or corrupted system files and in some cases rebuild the Windows 10 installation image.
For the purposes of ease and convenience, you can run the scan using the procedure below.
Open Notepad – copy and paste the command below into the text editor.
@echo off date /t & time /t echo Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup echo ... date /t & time /t echo Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth echo ... date /t & time /t echo SFC /scannow SFC /scannow date /t & time /t pause
Save the file with a name and append the .bat file extension – eg; SFC_DISM_scan.bat.
Repeatedly run the batch file with admin privilege (right-click the saved file and select Run as Administrator from the context menu) until it reports no errors – at which point you can now restart your PC and see if the AMD code 43 issue has been resolved.
2] Make sure the AMD Radeon hardware is properly inserted in the slot
For this you may need the services of a qualified hardware technician.
Check the AMD Radeon hardware on your computer. Take down the graphics card from the slot and then reseat it firmly. Clean the slot for dust.
If the AMD Radeon graphics card is in an old version, such as AMD Radeon 3000, which is not supported by Windows 10 operating system, it is highly recommended to upgrade the graphics card to fix the AMD Radeon graphics error 43.
3] Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter
You could also run the Windows 10 inbuilt Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter to try to fix the AMD code 43 error.
Here’s how:
- Press Windows key + R. In the Run dialog box, type control and hit Enter.
- Click Troubleshooting.
- Click the Hardware and Sound item.
- Choose the Hardware and Devices.
- Click Next to make Windows detect hardware and devices problems.
- Then click Apply this fix to solve the problem.
Afterwards, check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, you can try the next solution.
4] Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
Some AMD Radeon graphics drivers cannot be installed on Windows because of the driver signature enforcement, which may result in the AMD Radeon driver error 43. In this case, you’ll need to disable the driver signature enforcement.
5] Uninstall and reinstall the AMD Radeon Graphics Driver
Here, you’ll need to boot into the safe mode of Windows 10 and go to the Device Manger to uninstall the AMD Radeon device.
Once in safe mode, do the following:
- Right-click This PC in safe mode.
- Select the Properties.
- Click the link Device Manager in the left column.
- Locate the AMD Radeon device and right click it to choose Uninstall.
After you have done the clean uninstall, restart your computer to enter the normal mode and then download and reinstall the proper AMD Radeon graphics driver from the manufacturer’s website instead of reinstalling the driver by Windows 10.
Hope this helps!
